Ren89 0 Posted April 18 Hi, I have been having some issues when starting the car, starter motor will click multiple times or never or the starter motor will struggle. I have replaced the battery, new starter motor, the wires going to the starter, I have removed the brown plug connector and re connected all the wires and have checked and cleaned up the earth points. I have also replaced the ignition coil. Sometimes it will start no problem.

Ren89 0 Posted April 19 Ok, I'll check those out. Is there a way to check the ignition barrel? Which connections are the fuse board would be causing the issue? Thanks.

Pull the multi-plug out of the switch harness, work out which are the starter contacts in the cars harness plug, get a suitable piece of wire and do a temporary connection in the harness plug, if the starter turns it is the ignition switch or its captive harness at fault. I have twice, taken a switch to bits, the copper fixed contacts were burned, i dressed them down to a reasonably clean surface and they both worked again for thousands of miles, it is not electronics or rocket science, it is pre bronze age stuff
