Is your wire actually brown though, or discoloured white? I would not be the first time I have seen this.

hi Tom.

Not sure, could be camera and lighting making it look brown as well. I'll check tonight

either way it's not green though.

Sorry to sound cheeky, but could you confirm with yours?. Don't need a pic just let me know which order the wires go.

I would do, but both of my 8v 205’s are in winter storage away from home at the moment.

Could someone confirm my AFM connector is wired correct.

It is not !

Brown weire is +12v

Green/yellow is earth

You've mixed up these two , pin 4 and 5 .

Switch over

Pin 5 - earth , green/yellow

Pin 4 - +12v , brown

And that'll be it .

Ok,

So I switched the wires (the brown wire is actually mucky white, the photo is making it look brown.) and wouldn't even start.

It turns out I did such a sterling job at originally fitting my immobiliser I'd not noticed it was still wired in to the fuel pump!

I wired the alarm / immobiliser back together and it fired straight up. even idle, buttery smooth. I even tested the AFM by unplugging it, and result, lumpy rich idle! Perfect.

Turns out the Haynes Manual is wrong! When I re-pinned  the connector I used the the Photo and description 26.1b Showing terminals 18A (1) and M18 (2) It should read 18A(2) and M18(1)

Thanks for all your help on this guys, I can finally move forward on this and get it back on the road!

Congratulations on the fix.

Did a quick comparison and does not help when the pin markings on the AFM itself do not match the pin markings on the rubber cover and the numbering used on the photo.

Forum strikes again and well done for giving the feedback, too many threads do not give a final solution to problems/issues raised .

Thanks again for your help.

Hopefully this might help others.

I'll definitely getting my marker pen on my Haynes workshop manual.
