2092ccm engine setup (xu10j4rs)

I always liked to experiment so I tried this engine setup…

specs:

  -block bored to 87mm

  -88mm crank

  -PEC forged conrod 158mm (22mm pin)

  -Piston from 406 ES9J4 V6 std

  -head ported and catcams ‘109

  -1.1mm (87mm) mls headgasket

  -CR is 12:1 with no piston/block modification

Nice work. Can't wait to see some dyno figures. What is the compression height of those pistons? Are you sure those valve pockets are deep enough?

Tnx ,compresion height is 32,64mm, so sits about 0,25-30mm below the deck ,valve pockets is about 4mm inlet and 3mm exh at tdc… rev lim. 7800 and no problem for now.. now cams timed like a stock cams. Probably need more advance on inlet cam, i see on the dyno figures in a few days.

I'd set the '106 cams up with inlet 106º and exhaust 109º LCL's, initially. It's a waste of time (and money) turning up at the dyno with oem timing, which is something like 112/112 from memory.

 

Why don't you upload your videos to Youtube and then post the link here?

Oem stock timing is 106/112… for ‘109 cams on catcams site it says timing is 110/110..  which means i have to advance inlet cam for 4* and exhaust cam retard 2* degre for perfect timing?

Don’t assume anything. Ignore the 110/110. Set the cams up yourself, confirming they are at 106/109. That’s just what I suggested would be a good starting point for the dyno. 
 

There is no guarantee that the timing locators in the new cams are identical to oem. There are plenty of videos on youtube etc on how to dial them in.

what would you recommend me to do now, both of my pulleys are halfway(old type) ,that means I have inlet retard/advance same for exh ,so then I should go to the rollers, you better understand all this..?

Do you have a dial indicator, degree wheel and the ability to find TDC accurately?

You'll have to adjust them on the dyno then, being guided by the tuner. Typically, after getting the fuel and ignition maps correct, you'd advance the inlet 1º at the time and retard the exhaust 1º at a time, between pulls. Both of which increase the overlap period.
