It looks like you could just drill the rivets heads on a 16v coil and bolt the bracket on a 8v coil.

Thanks , i just wanted to be sure . When i bought the couple of Mi's last year they came with the usual assortment of dodgy looking old bits , 2 of the coils had the riveted on bracket but one was held on by 4 very long bolts , i took the bracket off ( which was in 2 pieces ) and got it replated along with all the other bits recently . I managed to find a new in box Bosch coil which takes the brackets nicely and is fitted in the photo although it looks like a more recently manufactured 'made in China' item . I thought i would shorten the bolts while i was at it as 2 inches long looked ridiculous . I have been looking into throttle cable brackets and possible cable routes and there are a number of options , the little bracket and rubber bush that came with this engine i have refitted for now but i will be experimenting to see what works best once the engine and box are in .

The 405 that donated this engine had a fuel pressure damper in the fuel line which i have seen in other 405 engine bay pics , i cannot remember seeing this fitted to a 309GTI16 , does it ever cause problems deleting the damper ?

There is some kind of damper on the 309 fuel pump itself.

I have run a number of 205 Mi over the years and never had one of those fitted. No issue.

We've deleted it in all 205 1.9 mi16 conversions, so doesn't seem to be a problem
