oil pressure to cams

how long does it take from initial startup for the oil to reach the cams?

 

bearing in mind i have just had the head rebuilt

 

i have doused oil over the cams and lobes if this helps at all

New cam or used ?

 

If new , special "running in" procedure is needed .

 

For old/used cam , first engine start after rebuild etc. , if you want to add some protection by oil priming : remove all spark plugs , disable ignition and fueling (disconnect dizzy signal cable) and crank the engine for a while via starter (mainly till the oil warning lamp turns off) .

its a used original stock cam, but refurbed with new guides, skimmed, washed and de coked, the usual at the machine shop.
