OEM Plug leads

Hi, I'm nearing completion of a full restoration and one question I still need to answer is the colour of the plug leads on the phase 1 cars when they were supplied new.

 

This original record breaking 1987 car suggests that the leads were red when supplied new. (assuming those in the pictures are still original!)

Can anyone categorically say if the leads should be red or black for a 1987 phase 1 car supplied new?????
