Taillights dont turn on but brake lights do

I have checked the fuses and bulbs but they still dont want work, a mechanic friend of mine said it could be the lights/indicator stalk, but the front headlights work perfectly, any advice would be greatly appreciated

I am about to begin to take off the stalk assembly

Update

i have taken the indicator/lights stalk out, i dont notice anything wrong with it, if anyone knows a way i could test it with a multimeter perhaps that would be a great help

if they are not too expensive im gonna buy a new one outright

Think it'll be (missing/broken/oxidized) earth wire problem ..

 

Rear lights are earthed on the panel behind the LH rear light , remove complete LH rear light assembly and check the earth connectors/wiring on the bodywork panel .
