I have a 1988 1.6. They are quite rare here in New Zealand. It runs perfectly in every way except for when it warms up it dies when the revs drop below 2000.

I have taken it to an auto electrician and he has checked coolant temperature sensors, ECM, relays, fuel pump and pressure, ignition amplifier, cam sensor and mass airflow sensor. Smoke tested intake.

He suspects a faulty distributor.

Has anyone come across this issue? Does the distributor seem a possible cause?

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.
