Brembo clearance issue

Recommended Posts

IRISH_MI16

Evening everyone

Fitted my brembos tonight and ran into some unexpected clearance issues with my wheels.

First off my wheels are compomotive flat face mo5s in 17x8 ET15,

This means clearance between the face of the caliper and the back face of the spoke isn't an issue.

However!

An issue I didn't expect was contact between the caliper and the back of the spoke towards the centre of the wheel.

It looks to be fouling by about 2-3mm

Before I go buy spacer (annoyingly)

Is it possible to remove material from the caliper itself or is this a no go?

Has anyone done this before?

Yes, sorry, but an 8" wheel on a 205 needs to be ET0 (or less). Thus a 15mm spacer will correct it.

Very little difference for a 405 too. You might get away with ET6.

I have Speedline SL434 wheels with an ET of 6 They clear a pretty big six pot caliper , whereas the original ones at ET19 needed a 15mm spacer. ( both 15” by the way) . I think that to retain your calipers and wheels, you are going to be forced down the spacer route .

Gonna try a 5mm spacer and see where that puts me if not ill have to see about buying my old team dynamics back

SL434 are 6.75" though. You need a lot less offset with 8".

Well tried 5mm spacers and looks like it's going to have to be 10mm ones. Or change wheels. Going to have to do some thinking
