dodgy relay/fusebox?

Recommended Posts

Hi, my 205 has an annoying problem in that the cigar lighter, horn and heated rear window stopped working. I found the offending relay, and when manipulated (held at a strange angle in the fusebox) can get the cigar lighter to work and very occasionally have the horn working.

I replaced the fusebox with a second hand one and it worked for a while but that has stopped.

I stripped the relay down and contacts all seem fine so suspect relay is ok.

What is wrong?

Thanks, steve

Swap the relay with another and see if issue follows the relay (in which case it's goosed) or remains with the slot on the board (in which case check condition of socket on fuseboard for signs of corrosion or overheating)

Symptoms do sound like a dry/cracked solder joint or similar on the relay if you've already swapped the fuseboard.

I have this exact same problem and have done ever since I've owned mine since 2005. When I brought it the horn was wired separately to a switch on the dash so I never bothered to do anything about it! Anyway, 12 years later I feel like tackling the problem! Which relay is it that controls these?
