Brake booster

Has anyone ever tried to fit a 206 brake booster on the pedals of a 205?

This is the aftermarket 205 booster:

This is a 206 1.6 16v booster:

Both 9", but the 206 item is much cheaper.

The bolt pattern for the cylinder is different, but no problem for me.

The 206 GTI booster is even 10", but probably too aggressive for a 205.

I'm not sure they will fit under the lip of the scuttle panel.

But both are 9"? The 206 GTI one is 10" indeed. I'm looking at the one of 206 with NFU engine.

Right hand drive 205 GTIs only have a 200mm (8") brake servo. The 225mm (9") one doesn't fit so you probably wont find much info on here.

Hi Rolf,

If you're willing to share. What are you aiming for regarding a different brake booster? Is it just cost or do you want to modify pedal travel, pedal effort or maybe even other things?

I had a mechanic installed a 205 GTi 1.6 brake rotors and pads on my baseline 1.1 205. But I kept the original brake booster. Maybe an GTi one has more force multiplication. Which could be slightly more suitable for my 205?

Regards, Maarten

Nothing special; the booster on my CTI has a lot of rust and I want a decent one... The 206 units look pretty similar and are a lot cheaper (new) or easier to find in scrap yards. Hence my question...
