Carbs4me 45 Posted May 19, 2017 (edited) Hello All, Just wondered if anyone has experienced a similar issue, basically I've been restoring my 205 to the best of my ability for the last 5 years. recently i got it to the stage where i felt it was ready to have the interior put back in, so i got a battery so i could test that everything works. Firstly the car had a 650 concept Clifford fitted which would not stop going off even if i tried to disable the alarm, since then i have removed the alarm rejoined the wires the alarm took it feed from. Now when i first put the key and turned it everything came on, wipers, heater/blowers all exterior lights. i flipped it back off with the key and retried again 15 minutes later. No longer do the blowers or wiper work and i have a constant live feed to the side lights and if i remove the 2 brown wires from the slam panel black box it switches over to the indicators and sometimes even goes back to the side lights but after doing so the light produced is very minimal almost like the battery has gone flat. Does this sound like a bad earth? Edit: just to add, on the dash the only light that comes is the blue main beam light as well as the petrol low level light. Also there is a light permanently on where the heat dials would be. Edited May 19, 2017 by Carbs4me
Gaz205 50 Posted May 19, 2017 I've just spent 3+ hours with 2 other people resolving a similar issue. Definitely a bad earth. I would renew the earth connector and take back the metal to fresh and try again. Or even relocate the earth to some good fresh metal. Trial and error but you'll get there. Carbs4me 45 Posted May 19, 2017 I'll have a look tonight, someone from one of the Facebook groups has offered to look at it for me, but I'm hoping i can resolve this before then. Where should i be looking for the locations of earths? I know there is one at the rear light, and behind the drivers kick panel and obviously the gear box, are there any others i should be investigating?
