1.9Td Options

I've had to shelve my plans to put a HDi engine into my STDT so it is on to plan B.

I have sourced a 97 306 1.9td so now the plan is to drop that engine into the 205.

Has anyone done this and if so what is the easiest way to do it? Is it best to use the 205 gearbox? If so which clutch/flywheel would you use?

Anything else that I should be looking for?

Thanks

205 diff, 306 box, 205 clutch arm and 1.9 mi16 clutch on 306 flywheel 205 cable, 205 speedo drive cogs, standard 205 shafts.

standard 205 td downpipe, some fuel and coolant hoses to mix and match due to variances in fuel filter location and heater hoses.

Excellent, thanks. Has the 306 box got longer gears than the 205? Just wondering what the advantage is over the 205 box.

Yes, longer gearing. HDi 'box longer still.

Thanks Anthony. I've just found your guide on how to swap the diff over.

I'm trying to plan as much as I can as I only have about 3-4 hours a week that I can spend physically working on the car.
