1.9 Cat Cam

Chaps, is there a cam, maybe from a non cat 1.9 or another Peugeot model that I can drop in to my '93 1.9 GTI to give it a slight performance upgrade? Not looking for anything wild but it would be nice to be at least equal to the non cat 1.9's.

any cam from a 128 bhp engine will go in fine, check the valve clearances of course, or you could use a mild 270 odd degree cam for a small upgrade

Cheers Mei, so it won't mess anything up like the idle (I like the solid idle!) or fuelling? Why did Peugeot change it for the cat equipped models?

Emissions presumably as the CAT cam has less overlap.

 

For what its worth, the ZX Volcane 1.9 engine uses the lower CR pistons from the CAT engine but the non-CAT camshaft and that along with Motronic management makes the same power as the non-CAT GTi (and a little more torque)

no, quite different even if the numbers dont look that different
