1.9 8V Primes Only After 3 Attempts

Hello there

Recently I need to turn the ignition on / off 3 times at least to hear the pump primes.

I replaced the fuel pump relay but no change..The fuel pump is new also.

What could be the problem?

If this is Jetronic then that sounds fairly normal - they don't generally prime every time you switch on the ignition (indeed often they don't prime at all)

Anthony you opened the Pandora Box

It's a DKZ engine runs with 1.6 ecu(340), 1.6 afm and dizzy unfortunately

If I don't do the 3 attempts thing , the car takes much much longer time to start..

If its taking ages to start without priming, I suspect that you've another issue, such as something on the fuel system (pump, FPR etc) not holding pressure as it should.

 

Even without priming, 205s should normally start within a second or so of turning the key.

faulty ignition barrel or a faulty tacho relay ?
