camgti 56 Posted May 1, 2015 Gday, Just thought I would post up some of our progress on our race car build. After being a member on here and a 205 fanatoc for probably the best part of 12 years Im finally in a position to build a proper track car. The idea for us is to build a car to regs that will allow us to race in a few different series if we want and also compete in Hillclimbs and sprint events. Stage 1 of our build is to focus mostly on car prep and development. A stock gti6 lump will be used to get us going and get some miles on the car and for us to learn as mich as possible. Stage 2 will be more power and custom front arms. Possibly a few extras. This is the link to the thread on Aussiefrogs.com. There are more pics further on in the thread. Our fabricator is a funny bloke. Note the gear shift he has designed. Pun intended... Ill repost a few pics and info tonight http://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/restoration-projects/116014-cam-pats-205-race-car.html

camgti 56 Posted July 4, 2015 Yea its a chilfhood dream unfolding for me and my mate. We could not have asked for a better standard of work. Up close its just a work of art. He would consider doing a run to sell. Only priblem would be the cost of postage from Australia! Thanks for thw comments. Im surprised theres not more interest in the project. Maybe I should get some pics up here tbh. Cam

calvinhorse 870 Posted July 4, 2015 Nice work cam, particularly like the gearbox mount! Is the strutbrace made from strut top strengthening plates?
camgti 56 Posted July 4, 2015 It looks like it Cal. I wanted top plates fitted and I think Huw (the guy building the car) decided that this way was the neatest and best way to do it within the rules and regs we have to stick to for this build. I think its quite genius! The gearbox mount is great, its 400g lighter and much stronger. Its actually sat about 20mm back so to shift the weight back. Same as the top mount. Did u see the top mount?
