Has My Sad Had It?

Just spent all afternoon going through the usual process of fault finding a high tick over after a top end rebuild.

 

Traced it to the SAD by squeezing the pipes so removed cleaned, adjusted and tested. The best I could get was from the fully open state you could just about blow through it after five minutes connected to a battery.

 

Refitted to car and no difference but as before if you squeeze the pipes the tick over goes down to normal.

 

So by this am I right in thinking that the Sad should be pretty much air tight when it closes, just wanted to check before I start looking for a new one.
