Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted February 28, 2015 So I've been doing a little work. I bought a welder so I could make an exhaust. After a small delivery I got the welder out and made my exhaust up. Cheers to rallyeash for getting my ass into gear with his pictures up. So I got to work for a couple of hours and managed to get it done. Still a couple of minor bits to sort but nothing major. So after a nice run up the road it feels a lot better at the top end of power so off to the dyno soon. I've just bought a house though so money's tight.
acox99 71 1 Cars Posted February 28, 2015 What diameter back box is that? Looks really smart. Did you buy it pre bent?
Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted February 28, 2015 What diameter back box is that? Looks really smart. Did you buy it pre bent? The back box is 5" diameter mate and I have copied rallyeash and cut out angles in the pipe and welded it back together. Not as good as a professional job but saved me a lot of money. ???? Cheers for the comment :-)
rallyeash 155 Posted March 1, 2015 Nice one. Is that 2.5? Should see a good gain now in my opinion.
Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted March 1, 2015 Nice one. Is that 2.5? Should see a good gain now in my opinion. Yes it is Ash. It felt alot better when I drove it. Might treat myself to quick run to the dyno next week. :-)

Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) So im having some small issue with oil pressure at the moment as i have written about on the XU 16V Engine maintenance and performance section. Basically its dropping when i accelerate for some reason. Shown in this video. Is it normal because i haven't noticed it before. http://vid1285.photobucket.com/albums/a588/TDGallington2171/1628DF3E-7423-4466-A507-27199557F6DF_zpsrrlyna9s.mp4 Many thanks for the comments, hopefully i can get some more updates done soon. unariciflocos 49 1 Cars Posted March 5, 2015 First and foremost you should confirm that it's not an electrical issue with the sensor. After that you can go into mechanical checks.
Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted March 5, 2015 Right it's all sorted. Simply a loose spade contact on the sensor. Well chuffed ???? Cheers for the help Tom
welshpug 1,622 Posted March 5, 2015 Certainly should be able to get 300+ to a tank quite easily if the mapping is any good, 400 is within reach on a standard engine!
Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted March 5, 2015 I better get it on the dyno and checked then. 300+ miles would be great. ???? Cheers Tom
Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted March 10, 2015 Well as the sun was out i gave it a quick wash and a drive today
Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted July 8, 2015 So I have booked a track day for the 20th and decided I didn't fancy doing it without the LSD. So a quick call to Miles today and I should have myself a brand new 3J driveline by the weekend fingers crossed. Some other small tweaks to do on the weekend to like a fresh flush of Millers oil and some work on the brakes and it should be ready for a good thrashing. jackherer 543 Posted July 9, 2015 You definitely wont regret getting an LSD. Which track are you going to?
Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted July 10, 2015 I'm doing a Snetterton evening on the 20th. :-) Yeah I can't wait to get it in and fitted. I would like some traction again as I'm spinning in 4th sometimes.
Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted July 14, 2015 So I had a delivery today. ???? So I have some prep for my trackday. Some fresh discs and pads for the front brakes and brake ducts. A fresh drink of Miller Nanodrive engine oil and obviously fitting my new 3J driveline. Does anyone know the torque loading of the bolts for the CWP when I fit it? Cheers Tom
Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted July 18, 2015 So i fitted the 3J today and i can safely say it was money well spent. Really pleased with it. Updates from the dyno and trackday on monday to follow. Cheers Tom
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted July 18, 2015 As said good stuff, while I remember if you MOT the car don;t let them take it on the brake tester or the Diff will go bang
Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted July 19, 2015 I was thinking that earlier whilst driving. I'm glad you confirmed that ???? Top man miles. That's for supplying it, I haven't stop smiling since I fitted it yesterday.
Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted July 22, 2015 So Monday was an eventful day, nice and busy. So I started of giving the motor a wash and heading off to have my fuel mapping checked on the local dyno. So the car was running mega lean in places so I'm happy I had it checked. So after a couple of hours on the dyno we got the mapping sorted and had a rather big shock on the power runs. I am not into power figures and i think something is out but its strange how my previous runs before the last few bits of work i done on the car ran 206HP now it has rocketed. So i may have to take it to be checked against another one of my mates and another dyno. But i am happy with the smoothness and consistency of the power even though i doubt its that the dyno is saying. So I ended up on the dyno for 3 hours instead of 1 but it was worth while as i got my fuelling sorted before my track day so off i went. I got my R888 fitted on arrival. Got noise tested which was 99 luckily and waited for the briefing to start. So i had a great track evening and my new 3J driveline made it so much better to drive. I loved it. My mates MK1 escort cossie and me lining up to go for a blast. All in all a really good day.
Tom_Gallington06 9 1 Cars Posted July 22, 2015 (edited) Here is a comparison graph... As I say I think there's something not quite right here, but the car feels quicker for sure. Might take it over to a dyno where my mate's race GTI-6 engine made 236HP to compare to his... Edited July 22, 2015 by Tom_Gallington06
Tom Fenton 1,525 Posted July 22, 2015 If you want my advice, you are wasting your money chasing numbers. If it drives well then leave it at that.
