Xrdt 205 Fuel Economy / Opinions?

Recommended Posts

Been offered a 205 XRDT that's been standing for a year or so for cheap, following on from my "contemplating a winter diesel" thread..

Been trying to dig out info on here and google about the XRDT spec but not a lot of info. Anyone have any first hand experience?

they'll chug along at 45-60mpg depending on use, a lad locally has a 'tuned' one which does 55mpg

Engine is basically the same on all the 205 TD's - expect high-40's mpg judging by ones that I've had previously.

They're not intercooled on a 205 so you're limited in how much you can increase power without, but if it has a Bosch injector pump it'll run on a veg oil just fine.

All TD models should run GTi style wishbones and ARB up front rather than the base model TCA setup, but dampers/springs will be softer and it'll have a shopping spec rear beam - GTi rear anti-roll bar will make a massive difference to how it drives.
