Hi All

Where is the best place to buy new or recon distributors for Xu 8v?

Also whats the main symptoms when they are faulty?

Thanks

Usually the fly lead cap and arm are the parts that go first and cause the most problems.

also the springs for the counter weights sometimes can come off, but its rare.

you can see if the springs are still attached if you remove the vac advance unit.

The vac advance often fail, its gone if you can suck through it, but they only help with fueling economy and dont cause a problem with running if its bust.

Another thing that happens with age and mileage is that the advance springs go weak, causing advance to increase at a greater rate as the revs rise which then causes pinking. If the rest of the distributor is OK then just the springs could be replaced, provided you could find someone to supply them.

Indeed , these days the springs are certainly past the OE tension when the distributors where new .. and that decreases engine power/torque .

H&H can do the lot - springs , bob weights , pick up coils , vac. advance capsules etc. .. complete dizzy recon or just custom rework as needed per the engine specs .

Highly recommended and the best in this kinda business .
