Rough Tick Over On '89 205 Gti 1.9

Hi every body can you help me I cant get the tick over on my 205 to increase ,the tick over is very slow but ,it drives ok .The car has got a kn filter system on it but the rubber adaptor is broken away from the two connecting pipes .could it be that ? any help would be appreciated thanks

Any leak upstream from the afm will cause issues

Hi Kenny,

 

I had the opposite problem recently- it didn't matter what I did the tick over would always settle about 1500 rpm- it turned out to be the distributor- it was wrecked inside- no springs etc left and just a load of iron filings.

 

It drove fine- at least I thought so but is a lot better since fixing the problem.

 

I don't know if your is maybe suffering a similar issue.
