Battery Relocation

I think you'd probably see the insulation smoking/getting hot if you couldn't get the car started and kept turning it over, out of interest have you ever measured the starters current?

All I know is that it starts easliy.

Mac Crash

My honest opinion is that in practise you would not be able to tell the difference between a battery earthed in the boot and one earthed at the front of the car via a long cable.

Didn't life seem so simple back then? four fuses and a battery.... only thing that troubled me was that the battery was situated between 2 fuel tanks...

Thanks for the cable link @scbond

So Dobboy... do you mind having a look and letting me know if this is sufficient - current max is 170 amps so looks about ok based on your post above. http://www.autosparks.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1784

I am guessing that its 37 strands of 0.90 mm - which is 33mm not 35, but that should be ok based on the maths above, right?

td_w, I'll check it out for you no problem.

i've asked for a cable datasheet from them for you as there is no volt drop characteristics for it listed, they don't have it but will try get it.

Do you know the product you were looking at is a stiff(ish) cable? (and its £/FT)

This product may be better (if your hearts set on 25mm) and it is slightly cheaper as its in £/meter

I phoned my own cable supplier out of interest and they can do a 35mm tri rated (any colour you want) for £2.69+the dreaded, but they have a minimum order charge of £15 if the order is less than £100, and delivery is included.

Found this too which would do you, and would keep the cables neat.

Autosparks didn't send me the datasheet for the cable they sell, but have sent me this (below), i've asked for the rear page too.

It might help somebody understand what is involved in cable sizing (correctly).
