1.6 Cti I Think

Recommended Posts

Slo

Saw this car on facebook of all places on sunday and within 12 minutes just had to have it, I think its a 1.6 I forgot to ask and they couldn't find the logbook, it came with a spare roof that's had a new roof skin and rear window, spare boot lid and a pair of mirrors. Drives spot on and very quiet, even the tape player and multichanger in the boot works.

Unsure what to do with it atm as I had planned to strip it (i've already pulled off the rear quarter badges and the huge blob of filler hiding that rusty corner) but I may keep it for my missus to learn to drive in and then we will be a 2 cti family.

Any idea what this is skulking away where the jack should be? Looks like a solenoid of some sort but the starter already has one so whats the point in it?

that looks like it has a black button on it if you press it with the ignition on it will start the car,if it hasn't got the button on it it might have been wired in as the orginal is worn out.

looks like a really tidy little car that.

new tailgate, a needle and thread to that seat rip and a good clean and would be a lovely little car :)

couldn't break that thing for parts. its in too good condition.

Umm thats what im thinking, it drives really spot on and the engine even idles perfect. Pictures do actually shine it up a bit, the passenger side has really bad lacquer peel on the door and rear quarter sills are like new though that i can see. Both seats have shagged bolsters on the outside, insides are still firm.

Hey i remember seeing those on cars when i was a kid, remote starter. What a shame they don't still come like that.

Is that rear heated window button connected to anything or just filling a gap?

I noticed that too when I was uploading at the pictures I have no idea. Chances are it will be plugged into the loom but obviously the plugs at the rear wont be connected to anything.

Too good to break. As said could be a little tidy summer run about.

I like the CTis.

Finally got this on my garden, haven't seen it since the day i bought it. Upon some investigating it seems I have been done again and bought another one with a D6B engine (1.9 gti non-cat).

1.6 distributor

Its a frankenstein job but it runs remarkably well, very smooth and the idle is spot on. I dunno whether to be happy that i got a 1.9 again or pissed off cos it was supposed to be 1.6 and original

I would be happy it runs :)

Have you done anything to it recently?

Thanks again for your help with mine :)

Your welcome mate. Only thing i have done and will do for some time is nicked the body kit for my daily as its in better condition and the red trims are perfect. The interior is like new apart from the bolsters. Paintwork needs a coat of laquer on nearside door and rear quarter plus the boot is nackered but it came with a spare one to paint. Ive used the spare roof on my daily as its new and got my original roof and window to replace this one with.
