Waterpump Broken

Recommended Posts

AHHH what a day!

my 1.8D daily driver decided in oneday to go from the most reliable car i've ever owned to finally letting me down

yesterday consisted of the following

on the way into work, either from the hard freeze the night before or for some other reason, cracked the waterpump housing and decided to drain my entire cooling system and leave me stuck in work, :( filled it with water and stopped a few times on the way home to check levels.

When i got home, after a scarry drive home due to the 90mph cross winds i open the door to get out, the door gets taken out of my hand by the wind, breaks the door stay in 3 bits (the bar that stops it going to far) and bends the door! :(

so it leaves me with a few options

new water pump and timing kit is gonna cost me approx £120 to fix

or and ive wanted to do this for a while is it time for a new d-turbo engine

also does anyone have a d-turbo engine (306 or 405) for sale in northern Ireland??

ive been getting prices from 250-300 for engine, turbo intercooler the lot

opinions or thoughts please, what should i do??

I'd fix the current engine regardless, even if you end up dropping in a D-turbo.

You'd go a long way with a haynes manual, doing the work yourself.
