205 Rallye's/xs's

Recommended Posts

Are there many left these days?

Looking to replace the Passat!

GTI's are far to much to insure, even more than my Passat so an XS or a Rallye will be the only way for me

Can normally find one for sale most of the time.

Xs is a better car out of the box but the rallye is cooler......

I can't find much at the moment, going to France for Summer (hence the passat going), hopefully there'll be some in September when I come back, if not it'll have to be a 106.

The Rallyes are miles cooler though, totally agree on that one.

My first car was an xs, brilliant underrated car. Twin choke carb was a lot of fun and sounded pretty good too with a K&N.

so why are you looking to buy a xs or rallye if you cant insure one?

Cause when my Passat goes I can start a new policy... basically I am on my way to my 3rd years no claims and there is no point in me cancelling my policy and loosing a years no claims....

I haven't experienced a rallye but I can say my Xs is a good fun car, weights hardly anything and gives a saxo vts a run for its money so I would say go for an Xs

Has it got the 205 or the 106 gearbox?

It should be 100 bhp give or take, and be nigh on 100 kilos lighter if not more.

It's such a treat driving a rallye, especially how rare they're becoming. I used mine as an every day car and the pleasure of people stopping and looking at it driving past is brilliant. And when your at the traffic lights or parked up people always come over to talk to you about it :)

i'd be interested to go for a spin in johns rallye now its got the 16v in it. i always found it more than fast enough for me when it had the S2 engine in it. keep it in second coming off a roundabout and gun it and it would scream down the road. agreed it needed a better gearbox though.
