185 Vs. 195 Tyre Section - Pro's & Con's?

Recommended Posts

I'm currently running the usual 185 section tyres but have heard that 195 might offer advantages, in terms of performance & wider choice - any comments/advice, please?

pros; choice, price.

cons, might rub your gearbox and r/h wheelarch guard, on a wider wheel or 309 beam, might rub the plastic arch trims, or on a base model shell would catch the metal arch.

Con: slightly stiffer ride.

Pretty much the majority of us use 195/50's due to the price.

In the end, the price difference was quite small, so I opted for Avon 185 section tyres! Keep it real!!

depends on height/sidewall of available tyres too... i.e 50/55... both have benefits and counter-benefits...

Difference in sidewall height is negligable due to different thread width.

Thats unusual for a 185 55 15 to be anywhere near the price of a 195 50, unless they were overpricing them!

keepin it real on 185s

just the way i do. less than 7 quid difference per tyre for my toyo's. imo 195s look a little bit too fat on speedlines.
