Recommend Me Some Wheels For My 205 Rallye

Recommended Posts

rallyeash

Hi guys

I'm thinking of moving away from my C5 steels on my 205 Rallye track car as I have a heat build up problem with them and have to run spacers to clear my Kad 6 pots.

Now I'm thinking of doing a bit of racing in 2014 and want a set of alloy wheels to use for this. Might sound silly but half the reason of running steel looking wheels on my car is I don't think any alloys suit the flat arch of my car so hence this thread.

My criteria is...

15' x 7

Direct fit

Good caliper clearance to clear my brakes with no spacers

Light as possible. No rally spec wheels!

Look like they suit my 205 Rallye (I'll put a pic up of it when I get into te office)

Obvious choices are TD 1.2's but anyone got any other good options?

I also want to order them from Halfords, sounds odd but at work for selling certain stuff we have a compliments card which can be used at high street shops which also includes halfords. I have £450 built up so on theory I can get a brand new set of rims without costing my pocket a penny :-)

Although the Halfords part is a luxury and not actually determining what I want if I can't get them from there.

Think Baz still has those for sale.

Wellers are very very heavy and don't let enough air to the brakes for use on a track car,

Don't think I'm over keen on the rota attacks. Weller's are cool but I want under 6kg per wheel, plenty of spoke clearance and good air flow.

pro race 1.2's are 6.2kg per wheel, I managed to get my set for £400

Sure you've thought about it Ash, but 7j and no arches?

fronts are currently C5's with 15mm spacers on 309 gear so 7J wouldn't stick out as far on the front but I have thought about the rears. I can play with the offset a little and order a set of rims with less offset so they don't stick out so far

once I find some rims I can play around with ordering the offset I want

They're 5kilos a wheel, not too bad! Superleggera, Italian for super light

5.2 is the book weight for them, 5.6 for the uitras.

MO's would look good on yours shame they're heavy compared to most

MOs and THs are just ballast! Very strong, but not light at all.

I had TH's on my car 7 years ago. So damn heavy!

My mates got a set of Ultra's I could try fitting, my fear is they'll look to modern on my flat arch. Although somehow a GTI can carry it off

Yeah if yours had the arches they would suit but without I'm not sure.
