Starts But Wont Run

I have bought a 205 project rally car again but only problem i have is getting it to start and run!

 

I have checked and I have a spark, fuel from the injectors. When i crank with the key the car starts as soon as i release the key the car cuts out.

 

I have tried hard wiring the fuel pump so it runs all the time but exactly the same issue. Anyone have any ideas? HELP PLEASE!

Faulty ignition barrel .. or an wiring problem somewhere in the ignition circuit .

 

Try , when you start it and up to the point to release the key back - wiggle the key while releasing and see what happens (if it perhaps stays running for a little while longer) .

 

Anyways , I'd try first an known good spare ignition barrel , preferably complete along with the wiring and of course the key . This way you wont have to remove the present one from the steering column for the test , just follow the wiring from the barrel down to the fuse box and unclip it's connectors from the fuse box (theres two of them for the ignition barrel) , plug the spare one onto the fuse box and try starting the engine .
