Mi16 Wiring Loom

Recommended Posts

kaich

I have a mi16 loom comes from a '89 405 1.9 mi16 with a motronic 355 ecu
according to this:

http://www.taylor-eng.com/ecu/motronic_intro.html

it should be a 3 row loom with a knock sensor (no lambda)

with topics like this
http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=82724
I've searched in the forum and I think I have solved many questions, except a couple.

starting from the ecu side:

near the ecu multiplug, 2 wires; they are useless, right?

after we find the relais box: a black one (pump?) and a white one (injection?) with a fuse

and a green plug: what for?

To be continued

go on:

2 wires:
a brown wire

a blu (or grey) wire with a yellow plug

30 and 7A so I assume oil pressure and starter motor. correct?

after we found the four plugs (injectors) and the icv plug

after

P1110517.jpg

a short cable; it should be starter motor?
another 2 wires cable with no plug: red and green with no numbers: it should be for a 2wire knock sensor? Am I wrong?

I think you are on the right lines, check to see which pins on the ecu plug those two wires without a connect to.

Oil low and Alt are Brown and Blue 'ish', 405's never had pressure senders

thank you very much

what about the pic above?

it's really hard to see where the 2 wire cable goes to the ecu plug, it's all tapered very well.

any advice would very appreciate!

Use a multimeter, its very easy.

Use a multimeter, its very easy.

thanks, great idea!

so I found only 2 row pinout, where can I find a motronic 1.3 (3 row) loom?

There are several links about motronics 1,3 pinout comes from bmw and Porsche, but everyone is slighty different

something like this

http://www.scribd.com/doc/68042741/Motronic-pinouts

IMHO is different form the 355 ecu pinout.

thanks for the advice

EDIT

maybe this?

little update

the 205 loom is slightly different from what I read here (it's a '88 1.9)

both brown connectors are different from the link above (there is also a red connector with other signals). Perhaps some wire goes to engine bay without ecu loom.

So i connected 30 e 30a (oil) alternator e starter motor , reverse light directly.

from the 405 loom I connected pin to pin to the dash:

stwiched + (2)

engine rpm (112)

fuel pump (76)

oil temp (30c)

ground (M)

and the big loom plug to the battery + (fuse box near AFM)

I don't connected knock sensor (actually I dont'h have one)

Connected:

earth 405 loom

earth ignition module

earth battery

earth brown connector ( M in A7)

to the gearbox

starter motor spin, but the engin wont'start

checked:

FP (is ok and there is 3 bar in the rail)

both loom relais (both inj e FP works fine)

dizzy is brand new

Tried with another ignition module (both blue bosch)

engine still don't start. there is no + 12 V in the coil plug

Any suggestion? Some check to try?

thanks in advance

auto update

brand new coil

checked again AFM, ignition module, relais, ground. with multimeter. checked continuity between AFM, coil and ignition module, 12 V and earth

connected everything of 2 loom multiplugs (water temp, etc)

coil 12,5 v ok

inj relè 11,6 V (?) but working

ecu chassis 6 ohm to ground ---> connected to the ground

still no sparks
