Make up a trolley to strap it to if you have a trailer available to transport it with.

thats not a bad idea because i guess everything i put on will need to be removed again by the garage staff to fit on the jig no? will only end up costing more then.

think id have to fit the subframe thou to help suport the shells frame, so if it dont take much more to gett it rolling id save on trolly making time?

i was thinking:-

subframe

suspention struts springs

sterring colum

wheels and hubs

maybe i will need a strut brace as well to be safe?

also without the head light panel it will need bracing at the front as well?

Sling a beam on the back, a subframe on the front and drag it on a trolley or trolley jack

i got the rear beam on, fuel tank etc etc not really stripped anything off the back. how can i get it onto a truck with the front subframe on a trolly? its got no brakes so will have to rely on the hand brake for brakes if the still works.

..hmm.. It's really no that hard to set the sub frame and struts back in with a couple of bolts tho!?.. I wouldnt even bother putting the column back on the rack (just turn a wheel by hand / boot as you need to). The most of the strut top support comes from the bulkhead and with no engine or gearbox then I reckon your safe enough. If the transporter has a winch then use it for both loading and unloading. If not, then keep a block of wood close to a back wheel as you're loading / unloading. An extra person would definately help.

The 'wheel it on like a wheel barrow' method would work too. We shifted my Uncles mk2 escort shell this way with one man on the winch and the other in the engine bay lifting the chassis legs (tho it was totally bare except for the back axle, your glass, dash and interior will add a bit more weight). Was comical but worked fine! The winch was the main benefit as it kept things slow and steady!... i.e dont be tempted to just lift the front end with a mate and take a race at the transporter!

Lol!.. Assuming that was aimed at me?! (As Matt still has a lot of bits still attached)..

As it happens, the old fella and myself were just about able to lift and carry my Mk2 shell onto a trailer when it was going for shot blasting... It was a lot easier lifted off the trailer afterwards!.. :(

..Even chickens would have laughed at it afterwards! :(

What's the transporter like?.. Is it a flat bed type, or partially floored? If it's the latter then the pallet / casters might struggle to bridge the gap in the middle. Also consider how the car's manouvred onto the jig... Would it be handier in the long run just to stick it on four wheels again?
