1.6 Cti Engine Mods

So I have left my 205 turbo conversion for the time being an bought a 205 cti 1.6. It has been crashed in the back but nothing bad. I was going to change the inlet manifold for the 1.9 one and the ecu would this make much of a difference?

I also want to change the rear axle to a 1.9 disc axle.

The inlets are the same. The ECU will make no difference either.

Plus, the 1.6 rear beam (in my view) is better than the 1.9 one.

what oli said, is very true.

you need to get more air in and out before throwing more fuel in.

So what would you recommend doing with it? Would you not say that having rear discs would be better then the drum brakes?

I would concentrate on upgrading the whole front end suspension to full gti spec, then start on the engine.

Also a GTI ARB in the rear beam.

Does the cti run different suspension on the front then the gti?

track control arms like a base model, i.e the fore and aft location is done by the arb, not a wishgone and droplink system that the gti uses.

My F plate CTi has 38mm inlet valves, a donor engine from a late 1.6 Gti measured 40mm.

Not sure if all CTis were fitted with the early xu head or mine might have had an engine swap at some point?

Id be interested to know if you ever have the head off.

From just buying parts for my project i found theres parts from all ranges of 205s mixed into the Cti.
