8V Coolant Leak

So last friday i drove my 205 from work a mile down the road to the petrol station, after fueling i came out to see it pissing out coolant. had a quick look underneath where it looked to coming from a water pipe. I then carefully drove it the short distance home so i could have a proper look. I refilled the expansion tank with the engine running but no leak this time? it ran until the fan kicked in then chucked all the water out the expansion tank (with the cap off). Refilled the tank again and it has still not leaked again but i now think it first leaked from the water pump. any ideas why this would happen?
