Oe 405 Front Springs - I'm Confused.com

me again.

 

kind of following on from my recent koni vs avo thread, i have another question.

 

now i'm pretty good at getting myself around servicebox, but i'm stumped.

 

i am now debating going o/e on the suspension on my pug, (as that's how peugeot designed it), and cost wise is very affordable

 

rear shocks - are available (even though original part number is about to be superseded)

front struts - are available

 

problem is, even with my chassis number in servicebox, there are still 13 variations of front spring listed for my car.

 

being a 20 year old car, there is no chance of finding any paint marks on my springs, just a thick covering of rust

Telling us what the bladdy thing us would be a start

 

You would be surprised, have a check if there are any marks, the ones off my black zx were like new, as were my brothers phase1 dturbo, paint marks perfectly legible, silver zx however a different story, just one big lump of rust

and knowing my luck, the springs i'm after, are one of 3 sets NLA

after a lot of cleaning, i found faint paint marks.

 

NLA through main dealer

 

only option i have now is, pattern part springs, kyb or lesjofors ??

if the 405 section wasn't locked, and i'd of asked my questions in there anthony

 

1 red 1 green are th paint colours

 

have you any experience of kyb or lesjofors?

So that's 5002 57, also used on the 309.

 

they may be marked NLA, but have you asked a good parts man to do a search? you never know there may be a set in some dusty corner of a foreign parts department!

 

Unfortunately I have no experience of those springs on any sporting pug, only working vehicles with snapped springs!

well, cross referencing on the KYB catalogue, they look to list the 1.9 and 2.0 2wd MI16 as using the same spring, and a 1.4/1.6/1.8 xsara estate.

 

looking across those models, something like a 5002 RY or RX would be the one, however without comparing directly its impossible to say specifically which will do the trick, visit a large scrapyard with a vernier and a tape measure!

Good info there, but a gamble what to go for.

 

No biggie really, as the front springs will probably be the only thing that isn't genuine in my mini resto
