Swapping Seat Winder

Recommended Posts

Kyle2690

Hi, ive recently took the passenger seat out of 1 of my 205's to replace the drivers seat in my other as its in better con.

The problem ive come across tho, is the seat winder... As you know the winder to tilt you forward and backwards is on the right hand side off the passenger seat, where the drivers is on the left.

Can anybody tell me how i can take the knob off and swap it to the other side? Would be much appreciated!

Cheers peeps

You cant, I have looked at doing it myself and ended up stripping down 2 seats and making 1 good one out of the two with the drivers frame.

The bit that the plastic knob clips onto is part of the seat frame and it's all crimped together at the factory, so you can't remove it without destroying the seat. You'd have to either fit the seat as-is and just put up with the knob being on the wrong side (the tilt lever might need bending to clear the knob too), or strip the seat down and swap the cover and foam onto a drivers side frame.

At least if you strip them down you can pick the best bolsters from both and have a near perfect seat, just cut them away from the base and the frame holds them in place.

I did this but it wasn't easy. You can remove the plastic part of the winder. I managed to cut the metal part of the winder off and drill, tap and screw the metal part to the spindle. Real faff but worth it as it was a minty passenger seat.

God knows if its still attached though sold the car years ago.
