Mi16 Exhaust System - Too Noisy

Recommended Posts

pp205

Hi guys,

I currently have a powerflow/magnex exhaust from the standard manifold back. It's a mixture of the two as parts have been amended over the years. So the backbox is magnex and the centre box is a tiny powerflow item but it is just too damn noisy as I'm getting too old for the noise!

Anyway a quieter system is required but my question is will a standard system be the best way to go? I'm concerned about a standard centre box being bashed about as the car is low and originally why I got the smaller powerflow item.

But my main concern these days is the noise! Any input appreciated, thanks

Simon

I've had a maniflow 4-2-1 mated to a full magnex and it was loud inside but louder out. Now I have the same 4-2-1 with a standard system albeit I suspect with blown baffles in the centre box so it's a bit boomy inside but outside not only does it look stealth it sounds it.

Thanks for the reply, so are you using a standard gti system and had it modified to fit your manifold?

Originally no, I managed to join the Magnex to the maniflow. However when I changed to oe I had something made up.

So I went to my local proper exhaust place, got them to make a short section up and include a lambda boss.

I think there are pics in my build thread.

I'm running a power flow exhaust from the manifold back with 2" pipe and two boxes, which aren't overly big, and it's not to loud. Still sounds good when you put your foot down but compared to the 2.5" system I replaced which had some huge tail pipe it's silent
