I'm in the middle of changing the radiator but have never come across this type of jubilee clip, are they designed as single use?

I use carpenters pincers.

 

You kind of squeeze the joint tighter and they ping open. It's hard to describe!

side cutters, go at them like an angry man.

 

single use and original equipment only, so make a point to check the condition of the hose!

If it's the type I think you mean, commonly found on breather hoses etc, I get a thin flat screwdriver and slide it in the end that hooks over and twist. It will pop off then.
