Gti6 P/s And A/c Removal, Tensioner Question

Recommended Posts

mech205eng

I've removed p/s and a/c from the engine and am power the alternator with a 6pk 700 belt and going to tension it using the spare hole. What is the best tensioner to use? I have a 1.9 8v engine sat in my garage, i could steal the tensioner off this if that would be ideal? of maybe the old one off the 6 engine after i've changed the belt

I didnt need any! I used a 6pk 705 and it had plenty of tension to turn everything with no slip. I had to manually turn the engine from the pulley to get the belt on but about half a turn and the job was done. Has been fine ever since.

Otherwise, I was going to use a spare I had form a timing belt change and it would have worked fine
