1.1 Drive Shafts To Gti Hubs

Not sure if this is the right place or not but i have a 1.1 205 96 (P) and i was after a set of gti shocks and hubs with breaks will this be a straight fit? Cheers james

1.6 gti will fit, 1.9 will not.

1.9 shafts have a hole drilled in them at the wheel end to accept an R clip and 1.6's have a nut with an edge to peen down to grip the shaft.

Not quite that simple, i have 1.9 shaft with the staked nut.

 

Base model and 1.6 use m20 thread, 30mm nut, 1.9 uses m24 threads and 35mm nut.

Will the bottom ball joint still fit or will i need a new subframe/bottom arms? Cheers

You can keep your original hubs and fit 1.9 brakes and gti shocks

It is now, it's brakes btw.

 

Struts for either a 1.6 or 1.9 will fit straight over but the antiroll bar drop link attachment can hit the inner wing rigid brake pipe to flexi bracket & the springs might not be best suited to your car due to the engine weight difference.
