Xu7 Head Polishing,porting,upgrading,how To?

Heads all ported, ran into some trouble with the double springs as in I could fit them to the xu7 head because the guides wouldn't allow the smaller rs seals.

 

Have opted to fit the xu7 springs and seals with the rs cams, as after measuring the bind on both sets of springs the were identical anyway( didn't check actual spring pressure tho).

 

Was also advised that the xu7 springs are progressive being tapered? So would be harder at more lift (how true this is I don't know)

 

Anyway what's the worst that can happen

 

Should have the engine back in this weekend so will let you know

I've got spares to rebuild if it all goes south anyway.

 

If I'd have know the hassle of this conversion I'd just have bought a good rs head and fitted that which is what I'll do if this goes wrong.

 

From reading a lot of posts on the gti6 register it seems its done quite a bit on the xu7 running rs cams with no issue.

i know a XU7 with RS cams that was reving 7800 rpm, with stock head

and about the coil be progressive, it's possible, because they are conicals... and that makes them lighter, that, revs more too

 

oh! let me remind! it's very important polish the exhaust!!!! but not the admission.. polished admission is worse!!! they must to be little rough
