Recommended Posts

peter

i have the bosch mp3.2 ecu running my car at the minute,

has anyone, or is it possible to wire in the obd diagnostic port directly to the ecu?

Acording to the diagram, the is 3 wires from the ECU

ECU Pins;

43 (wire number 426) Also goes to light on dash Pin 3 on diagnostic plug

13 (wire number 141) Pin 2 on diagnostic plug

55 (wire number 140) Pin 1on diagnostic plug

What have i missed?

Many thanks

On my '96 s2 XM, with that engine & ECU, there was a diagnostic port under the steering column. It was allegedly possible to make it read out basic diagnostic codes using fairly straightforward kit - a cheap Draper handheld - I'll see if I've still got the details somewhere. Hell, I might even have the handheld somewhere still...

What I do recall, though, is that I never actually managed... There was a difference between the diagnostics on s1 and s2 XMs, despite the engine being the same, and it was never quite clear which should work. The port itself definitely worked - plugging it in to a "proper" (SnapOn, IIRC) handheld borrowed from a workshop gave full access to the diagnostics & setup.

Yes, thats the one, the 406 has one, but im trying to wire in a diagnostic port directly to the ecu as the engine is in a 205.

My ECU is 219 and works spot on with a snap-on scanner, water temp, fault codes, inlet temp etc. Someone else did the loom (made a totally new one) so I don't know what they did to get it to work

So this isn't an obdII port like on a 406?

No, definitely nothing so helpful or useful. Utterly proprietary.

So is it anything like a "breakout box" or has anyone heard of a breakout box?

this topic discusses fitting an obd2 compliant socket into a 205 if its any help.

I know a few people are interested how to get it working.
