Is The Long Gear Linkage Solid Or A Tube? (Tu)

Recommended Posts

as above, i havent got spare one to check. Just planning to change it from the cup/ball type arrangement to rose joints. I was originally planning to make a new rod , but if I can either drill and tap the ends or something similar on the original rod that'd save me a bit of time and effort

I made mine using 12mm o/d seamless hydraulic pipe from work then drilled and tapped the ends to accept an m8 helecoil. I used m8 rose joints for the long selector and m6 rose joints for the two smaller linkages. either pipe or bar i dont think it would matter but pipe would be lighter and help make the shift lighter aswell, mine has done plenty of miles and is showing no signs of letting go.

The original rods are solid, so you can cut and drill them however you like.

sounds good to me then! yeah I bought some m6 ones already, but as you have, I've decided just to use those on the short linkages and use m8 for the large one
