Installing Webbers

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am installing twin 40's on my 1.6 GTi and having searched and found some info I have some questions....

I have a facet fuel pump, which I need to mount as close to the tank as possible, or can I just mount in the engine bay?

Also, can I use the standard fuel regulator or do I need a different one?

Thanks

Jon

You can mount the pump anywhere tbh, you'd need to remove the high pressure pump from the tank though and convert it to pick up the fuel without it.

No, the standard regulator is much too high pressure. at c3bar, you only need around 6psi.

Or you can just run the standard high pressure pump and a proper low pressure regulator or two to drop the pressure down.

FYI; it's 'Weber' ;)

dont think that this is correct

some pumps are designed to be mounted near the tank so have a short pull and a long push

others that go in the engine bay have along pull and a short push.

Yes, apologies this is true.

I've never had a problem with general Facet pumps being mounted in the engine bay though.

I always had mine in the engine bay and never had any problems either.

I removed the in tank pump on mine and swapped it for a piece of tube, and had a facet pump wired to an inertia switch and a malpassi regulator under the bonnet and it was perfect.
