if you go 8" you'll need a fairly low offset.

Going by the fact that a 6.5" ET29 Ouragan/nimrod will JUST ABOUT fit on a 309 without any spacing, I would imagine you'll need an offset lower than 9mm, illustrated below at the same inset.

you're looking at a minimum of 35mm more poke than a standard wheel.

probably safer at a 0 offset.
