205 1900 Gti How To Build A Turbo

Hi guys i have a 205 1900GTI with the engine build in the rear of the car.

Now i want some extra power and i'm thinking about a turbo powered engine;

Has anyone some experience with this or isn't that possible with that engine

I think m_attt meant isn't the engine facing the wrong way and welshpug was just saying no it isn't

Thanks cybernck for the link. The car on the picture is that yours?

I have read the story and seams to be verry easy to instal a turbo

You dont have to do something at the compressions or pistons.

But i don't know if 0,4 pressure is much for a turbo.

Yes, it is. I'm surprised you don't know about it.

 

If you can get DFZ engine internals (that's a 1.9 engine with 105 bhp), it has got 8.4:1 c/r so it's ideal for turbocharging :).

Where can i found some pictures of your car on this site

I have watched but i havent found something about your project.

Next weekend i gonna check the compresion of each cilinder.

1.9 DFZ 8v :) .. i have it and also thinking about turbocharging it , at least that'll be the next option if i dislike 2.0 T engine .

You have build in 2 engines in the car, that was a lot of work i think.

I have just replace 1 engine and worked a lot of houres on that.

In the weekend i will place more photos, my car is almost ready just the clutch and vacuum for the brake servo

What are you doing with your car trackdays or something like that?

That is nice work what you've done!

Will this be an race or road engine ?

 

Personally , id rather build an light alloy turbo engine and map it afterwards properly .. poted head , inlet , IC , lightened bottom end , some good box with LSD , SA management - that'll go like a stink ..

 

1.9 8v DFZ is perfect for that , 1,9 8v DKZ is also good but you wont be able to wound up the boost as much when compared with the 1.9 DFZ engine ..

It's for rallycross the car so it's not for road use

Like i said i'm gonna test the compression in the weekend and then i'm sure wich engine it is.

 

Just the noise of a turbo is nice

Mine has this. Smaller valves than the GTI and the lower compression is mostly in the cylinder head
