309 Gr. A Oil Sump

Recommended Posts

Just a question. Looking for some pics of 309 gti16V PTS Gr.A oil sump, I could only find one in gr.A manual and it sucks... Tried to rind everywhere but found nothing. Anything would be helpful...

is it not the standard XU9J4 sump with the PTS baffle kit possibly?

Unfortunately there is no PTS Baffle kit for XU9J4 engine, the very first PTS baffle kit I have ever found was in XU10J4 306 GTI PH-1

XU9J4 had welded box onto original sump and adapted oil pump to suck oil form welded box as you can see in pic below.

It's from PTS Gr. A rally manual

I think JeffR may be able to help you with this. Peugeot factory team ran two Mi16's at either the '92 or '93 Bathurst 12 hour race. They had 309 sumps. I've seen a pic. It's a cross between the 1.9L Mi16 sump and the 2.0L sump. ie it has a wall, but also the drainage ribs

Here's the sump Peter was referring to.

It has internal castings to mount the baffle with trap door & the drainage ribs mentioned. Oil pump also had the baffle plate.

Only other pic I ever saw of one like this was the now defunct 'mi16.nl' site.

We made our own trapdoor baffle setup and extended the front of the sump to hold an extra 900ml.

The photos are during the mock-up stage and before the extention was put on, it's been tested at a track down here thats notorious for popping engines.

Sump porn. I wonder if that's part no. 0301C0? All the other cars have 0301F5.
