Mi16 Vs Xu7 1.8 16V Alloy Block Differences?

Recommended Posts

Was after some info as to what the differences are such as block height, liner compatability and which is considered the stronger/better block. Am going to build an alloy block with 88mm forged diesel crank, custom 85mm liners, forged rods/pistons with gti6 head for a 1998cc rally engine.

Height is the same, they have 8v style liners, slightly different engine mounts, no oil spray bars (sprayed form the rod instead)

only one oil pressure takeoff, slightly more ribbing than the 8v block, not sure on them Mi16.

if youre going for a 2.0 alloy engine, I would start straight off with the EW, saves the massive cost of custom liners.

Thank mei. Had a quote for ductile liners and to be honest they aint that expensive, want to stick to the xu as i already have exhaust manifold, throttle body inlet etc, as i had a gti6 in the car before. I have seen the top engine mount, looks a lot lighter than the big gti6 one.
