Project: Too Good To Break...205 Cti

Recommended Posts

Dickie

Found this little 205 CTI online a few days ago. The For Sale thread was brief and didn't really show the car in a good light. So my plan was too strip it for good parts and scrap the rest. Got it for a bargain price and the seller even delivered it to my door.

When I got to have a thorough look over it, to say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. It's in far better condition than my '88 GTI that I wanted the parts for. So it's booked for it's MOT this Sat.

Gave the CTI a good wash today in prep for the MOT on Wed. I know it shouldn't make a blind bit of difference how clean the car is, if it passes or not, but it always makes me feel a bit more confident driving a clean car into the testing station.

One question I do have is how do you tell the difference between GTI and CTI rear seats? I'm sure some time in it's history one of the owners has swapped the seats.

Also going to send off a DVLA V888 form to get as much history as I can, as that is the one thing that lets this car down.

Nice and clean

The CTI only went and Passed!!!

But what a drawn out process it was. Booked it in at National in Croydon as they are offering MOT's for £27. That was Wednesday, but was told they were having problems with the rolling road, a few days of excuses followed, so the CTI sat at National until Sat (today) when they finally admitted defeat and took it to the National down the road. All that needed to be done was headlight aim, and mixture to pass emissions.

The only advisories were a brake imbalance at the front and the rear struts have a slight misting of oil.

Quite proud of the little CTI

Quick question! What is the difference between GTI rear shocks and CTI rear shocks? As Service Box lists a different part number for the convertible.

Looking a little closer through the MOT. It has only covered 250 miles in 5 years.
