Oil Spray Bars

Hi,

 

 

My Gti6 engine has different cams in that hit the oil spray bars, do i have to use the spray bars or can i just remove them,

depends how much they are fouling by, you could squeeze them so they clear.

Do I not need them to lubricate the camshafts. What's the purpose behind blocking them surely if I leave them oil will just squirt out of them.

Ive removed the oil spray bars completely from the head and blocked the oil feed holes used to supply the spray bars. There will be plenty of oil spashing about from tappets to lubricate the camshaft lobes.

 

You could leave them open I guess, its your choice but mine are blocked. My reason for this is leaving them open would be a point of little resistance in the oil channels, if that in turn makes a noticable difference to oil supply or pressure to the rest of the head including tappets I dont know, so it got blocked.

It's no big issue not having them. The XU10J4R doesn't have spray bars, yet is near identical.
