17" Wheels On 405's

Recommended Posts

Do 17" alloy wheels fit on 405's without clearance issues?

The shop I was in recently said that 17's don't fit on 405 because there are clearance problems. Is this true?

I like the multi spoke touring car style of wheel. I found a couple of pics.

One is a T16

and the other a Mi16.

Does anyone have wheels like this on their 405? I like the style of the gold ones (although in silver)

Anyone know what these are? What you think cool or tack?

I have these OZ on 16 at the moment. Not that keen on them

isn't Matt Selby's TC replica on 18"s?

as long as the offset is correct and you don't go overboard on the width and lowering they'll be fine.

I have 206 RC/GTi180 wheels on my Mi at the moment. 205/40/r17 have no clearence issues, Apart from rubbing on full lock, and inducing a s*ite load of bump steer.

I had 17's on my old Mi with no clearance issues whatsoever. There was also an Mi16 in Fast Car about 15 years ago that was running 18's with 225-40's. I shall be trying this soon so will be able to say about clearance then. Although, I shall just modify the inner arches / cack guards / whatever else gets in the way to get them to fit.

This low, with 206RC wheels, 205/40 tires and 15mm spacers. ~78mm to the ground under front subframe. Front fender arches little turned and no rubbing problems.

My 4bie was lowered 40mm on the front and had the back hydraulics set lower than that on my old 17's

Rear of that car was lower, but it raised up when I changed new rear armbearings. Hammering of sensor linkage is on todo-list, adjustment locking bolt is seized.

damn, stop posting pictures of nice 405's, makes me feel so sad about selling mine :(.

i'd recommend 205/45/17 tyres for use with 17's on 405 btw :).

i just think they're too shallow - they're something you'd use on a smaller and lighter car, such as a 205 or 309.

standard is 6x15" ET28 on Mi16 and 6.5x16" ET18 on T16 (much better!).

i'd recommend 6.5x17" ET31 (that's 307 challengers) with 20 mm spacers

or 7x17" ET28 (that's 206 Atlantis) with 15 mm spacers. other wheels just

work out based on that - even better if offset is just right (like 15-18) and

you don't have to use spacers :).

hope this helps.

Have a look on PeugeotPerformance.net website. Go to Gallery, User Gallery, 405, James McLear Mi16x4.

The car changed a lot while I had it (worked at Ripspeed at the time), and I'm just annoyed that I don't have any pics of my old Black Mi16.
