Fan Blower?

Recommended Posts

danrogers

hi guys, got in my car this morning and the fan has packed up, typical as it was a very icey morning! I think its the motor that has gone because when you turn the speed to max you can hear a kind of click coming from the blower, i guess its under the glove box as thats where the noise is coming from? Has anyone had any experience with this? Many thanks

its be hind the glove box, remove the fabric panel and give it a tap as the plug to the motor tend to play up, as they get very hot and lose a good conection,if that fails un plug it and have a look at the plug, it might be your motor but normally just the plug

Looks like I have the same problem, only blows cold air and I can hear that clicking in behind the glove box, gonna give it a go tonight. although I hope its not the matrix.

I have aircon though, read in the haynes not to go near the blower if you have aircon as its best left to an aircon specialist?

Had a look at it when I got home today, when I took out the mats I noticed the footwell was damp, then went and pulled away the fascia to discover to my horror

So it looks like the matrix is knackered, should have guessed when I was trying to clean that brown stuff out of the vent that it was rust  not sure if im going to try it myself after hearing Kris's story.

anyway found out what was making the clicking but havent a clue how to get at it let alone what it is, heres a pic: (its the little black box)

was just thinking, could that brown crap be Rad Seal or something similar?

Ive heard stories of this stuff making a mess of heater matrixes. The last owner had a new rad put in so the one before it probably had a load of Rad Seal in it.

Im thinkin that the whole dash will have to come out to get in at anything & when it comes to change the heater matrix. The Haynes manual says you only need to remove the glovebox on the P2 to get access to the matrix etc. but they dont tell you how to remove the metal bar & frame that holds the glovebox in place, as far as I can see its stuck to the rest of the dash and would have to be cut out.
